Scientists have discovered the longest insect in the world, reports AP. Body length: the new "record" is nearly 36 centimeters (56 inches, given the length of elongated limbs), which is two centimeters surpasses the previous "result". The message on the opening appeared in the journal Zootaxa.
An insect that has received the name Phobaeticus chani, was found by local residents on the island of Borneo. In 1989, the sample fell into the hands of the Malaysian amateur naturalist Datuk Chanchulunyu (Datuk Chan Chew Lun), where he remained until recently, has not yet been identified by a member of the British Museum of Natural History. Previous "record" was also from the island of Borneo.
